Property description
Villa Mansoor & Lodge is a luxury property located in the picturesque
and peaceful Bulgarian village of Mala Tzarkva, just 60km south of Sofia.
It has extensive panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. The mountain resort of Borovets is a mere 15km away, whilst the Belchinski
Bani spa is only 17km.
The property comprises the Villa and adjacent Lodge; the buildings
are available for rental either separately or as a joint letting. The
Villa and Lodge are surrounded by a large, well maintained garden containing
a variety of fruit trees…just sit outside on balmy summer evenings
and enjoy a succulent meal prepared on the stone barbeque. In winter,
when everything is covered in snow, the view is breathtaking.
The villa offers generous accommodation, with a bathroom or washroom on each of the three floors. The
property comfortably sleeps 8 people. On the ground floor
there is a cloakroom area, washroom, kitchen, dining area and a bright
and pleasant living room with door to a large terraced area looking out
over the peaceful rear garden. The first floor comprises two bedrooms,
a bathroom and a mezzanine living room area opening out onto a terrace.
The basement area comprises a family room with en-suite bathroom.
The lodge offers more modest accomodation but is very cosy, particulalry
in Winter with a log fire in the living room. The property comprises
kitchen, dining and living area with washroom and WC. There is also
a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
The Villa and Lodge provide a relaxing and secluded environment from
which to enjoy the impact and magic of some of Europe's most stunning
mountain scenery. Ideally situated for exploring the Rila mountain range,
it is perfect for anyone interested in climbing, hiking, biking, fishing,
horse riding, skiing and sightseeing.
The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
Villa Mansoor & Lodge lies in the foothills of the Rila mountain range
in Southern Bulgaria, offering a perfect base for outstanding summer and winter
holidays in some of the most beautiful and dramatic unspoilt countryside in
Europe, yet within easy reach of a wide range of modern tourist facilities.
Bulgaria's climate features colder winter temperatures than the UK, often falling below -10 degrees Celsius. However, the winter temperatures do not feel as cold as they are, since the climate does not feature the unpleasant dampness often experienced in the UK during winter. Snow cover is usually maintained in the mountains from the end of November through to the end of March, creating excellent skiing conditions during the winter months. Summers are warm and pleasant, with a refreshing breeze in the mountains.
Borovets / Mala Tzarkva area
Within 15-20 minutes' drive from the house is the internationally renowned mountain resort of Borovets, being Bulgaria's oldest established ski resort. It is built on the slopes of Mount Musala, which at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level is one of the highest peaks in the Balkans, and it offers 23 ski runs catering to every ability level, 3 chairlifts, 10 draglifts and a gondola, as well as snowboarding facilities and a wide range of tourist shops, restaurants and leisure facilities, many of which are open all year. In summer Borovets, which is surrounded by pine forests, makes an excellent starting point for mountain walking and hiking (the gondola remains in operation during the summer months) and in addition there are mountain biking and horse riding facilities.
Within 10 minutes' drive there is the town of Samokov, which offer extensive
facilities for shopping and eating out. Slightly further afield are the Rila
Monastery (approx 90 minutes), Bulgaria's largest and most famous monastery,
founded in 927 AD and hidden high in the Rila mountains, and the capital Sofia
(approx 60 minutes), the highest capital in Europe and a city of considerable
romantic charm which offers historic churches, some of which date from the
dawn of Christianity, museums, galleries, parks, tram rides and a huge range
of quality shops and restaurants, where a good meal can be had for as little
as three or four pounds per head (including drinks!).
All around Mala Tzarkva there are picturesque forests and open countryside,
winding mountain roads and small isolated villages, all set against the backdrop
of distant mountain peaks.

Flights from London (Heathrow or Gatwick) to Sofia are offered by numerous
airlines with return fares from £160 and discounts for children. Lastminute.com usually has a good range
of flights available for both advance and late bookings. In addition, low
cost carrier Wizz Air has flights from Luton to Sofia, with
prices from under £100 return including taxes and charges.
Our representative will meet you at Sofia airport to assist you with your
car hire arrangements and escort you to the property.
Car hire is available from under £100 per week.
